Central VA nonprofits that work to support our immigrant communities:
Sin Barreras: https://www.sinbarrerascville.org/ A Charlottesville-based organization. Sin Barreras' mission is to empower immigrants and their families in Central Virginia, focusing on the Hispanic population, by educating, advocating and supporting their needs.
Commonwealth Catholic Charities: https://www.cccofva.org (Note from a contact there: “Each location has different physical resources that may or may not be available, such as diapers or a food pantry. Our Norfolk, Richmond, and Roanoke, VA locations all have immigration counselors accredited through the USDOJ. We offer mostly services with the USCIS field offices, such as family unity, domestic violence victims, crime victims, and others who are eligible for an immigration benefit. We do charge a fee for services with the immigration program.”
We are grateful for the faith communities that have supported our visitation network:
Westminster Presbyterian Church
Sojourners United Church of Christ
Love Thy Neighbor Coalition: an interfaith group in Charlottesville dedicated to support our immigrant neighbors
